Hotteok is a popular Korean street food, especially enjoyed during the winter. These golden, crispy pancakes are filled with a delicious mixture of brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts, creating a warm, gooey center.

Key Ingredients:

  • All-purpose flour or glutinous rice flour
  • Yeast (for a soft, chewy texture)
  • Brown sugar, cinnamon, and crushed nuts (for filling)
  • A little oil for frying

How It’s Made:

  1. Make the Dough: Mix flour, yeast, water, and a little sugar, then let it rise until soft and fluffy.
  2. Prepare the Filling: Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts.
  3. Shape and Fill: Take small portions of dough, flatten them, and place the filling in the center before sealing.
  4. Fry Until Golden: Cook in a pan with a little oil, pressing down until both sides are crispy and caramelized.

Hotteok is best enjoyed fresh, with the filling oozing out as you take a bite! Pair it with a cup of hot tea for the  comfort snack.
