Japan – Teriyaki Chicken

Ingredients:
2 boneless chicken thighs
¼ cup soy sauce
2 tbsp mirin (sweet rice wine)
2 tbsp sake
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp grated ginger
1 tbsp vegetable oil
Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish
Instructions:
Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
Place chicken thighs skin-side down and cook for 5-10 minutes until golden brown. and flip and cook for another 7 minutes.
mix soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and grated ginger in small bowl.
Pour the sauce over the chicken, allowing it to simmer until it thickens and coats the chicken beautifully.
Occasionally flip the chicken to ensure an even coating.
Once the sauce has reduced and caramelized, remove from heat.
Slice the chicken into strips and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
Serve with steamed rice and sautéed vegetables for an authentic Japanese meal.
